Our visit to Solair Recreation League on July 11, 2026, was one of the most humiliating experiences we have ever had.

My husband and I arrived around 3:30 PM hoping to camp, but all campsites were booked. We purchased a day pass for $80, which was valid until midnight. Since I had already cooked dinner at home, we found an empty picnic table behind the RV/campsite area to quietly reheat our food. There were two empty picnic tables, no campers present, and no signs indicating that day-pass guests were not allowed to use them or that the area was private or restricted.

While my husband was eating, I politely asked a staff member if any campsite had become available because we were happy to pay to stay overnight. Instead, he returned with several staff members, including the manager.

The manager never even introduced himself. He immediately accused us of trespassing, claimed we had set up a tent (which we never did), and repeatedly insisted that he had warned us multiple times this year about staying past midnight. That was simply not true. This was our first visit to Solair in 2026, and we had never met him before. We politely asked him to check their records because we believed he had mistaken us for someone else, but he refused to listen and continued insisting that we were lying.

We were never told at check-in that day-pass guests could not use campsite picnic tables, nor were we ever given a tour explaining where we could or could not go. If that is their policy, it should be clearly communicated and posted. There were no signs stating "No Trespassing," "Private Campsites," or "Day-Pass Guests Not Permitted."

Instead of simply asking us to move or explaining the rule, several staff members surrounded us while the manager repeatedly shouted for us to leave immediately. We were not even allowed to finish the dinner we had just reheated. The manager called the police, but after we decided to leave peacefully, he canceled the call. As we drove out, everyone was watching us, and we felt embarrassed and humiliated over something that could have been resolved with a simple conversation.

As a South Asian couple, the way we were treated left us feeling singled out and unwelcome. Based on our experience, we genuinely felt that we were being discriminated against because of our race.

We will never return to Solair Recreation League, and we cannot recommend it to anyone based on our experience. Before our visit, a few people had warned us about similar treatment, but we did not take those comments seriously. After what happened to us, we now understand why they shared those concerns.

We will be sharing our experience with our friends and members of the nudist community in the hope that no one else has to go through the same humiliation and embarrassment that we experienced. Every guest deserves respect, clear communication, and the opportunity to explain themselves—not to be surrounded, publicly accused, and treated like criminals for simply using an unmarked picnic table to reheat their dinner.

I've visited this place with weekend two day stays with rented cabin off and on yearly for the last fifteen or so years. I'm single and never felt watched or monitored for innappropriate behavior which might preclude being banned from the place. My observation has been that all visitors, including me, carry themselves in a rather polite but mildly standoffish manner so as not to appear they're "hitting on" another visitor.
Nevertheless, I've still had many nice casual acquaintance conversations with others of both genders from varied and interesting backgrounds. I once tried to run my radio controlled boat in the pool, my fearing it would get tangled in weeds if done so in the lake, and was approached by staff and told not to as it might damage the pool and/or scare off swimmers, but it didn't get me banned. Thereafter, I ran it in the lake w/o issue.
What I take exception to are the fees for 2026. What cost exactly $360.00 last year is now $608.00. The fees are posted on the website so weren't a personal quote to discourage just me. It seems they don't want single people as the grounds fees for singles are the same, regardless of age, and now much more than for couples or family regardless of their age. I never saw that before, charging less for more people? The cabin fees were also highly increased.
Anyhow, I'm not poor and could pay the price but the new fees make me feel unwelcome so for that reason won't attend any longer. Any price increases throughout all my years attending were rational until now.

A relative of mine went for a day visit and everything was fine until the end of the day. My relative was approached by two ladies who were likely workers and told him that he was not allowed to come back again for no specific reason. They threatened him later and he had suffered a panic attack and anxiety! We were both extremely furious!!! He did absolutely nothing wrong despite the disability he had. This is absolute DISCRIMINATION!!! My advise is to stay away from this place and look elsewhere.

I went for a day visit. The place was nice but it all went downhill when I was leaving. Two workers approached me and said that I was not a good fit there and told me never to come back. Solair threatened me with a very disgusting and despicable letter. I was absolutely offended, embarrassed and EXTREMELY FURIOUS????!! How dare they do this to me?! I did absolutely nothing wrong while I was there. This is absolute DISCRIMINATION!! Stay away from this place and if you have a membership, cancel it permanently!

Some of the leaders said I was not welcome for no reason and they sent me a letter that was very threatening and I was extremely upset, embarrassed, and humiliated. Stay away from this place!!

Came as a single woman as a day passer and took a tour. Had a great time laying out and soaking up the sun at their pool deck. I felt very safe with their structure and expectations for decorum. When dating my now husband we visited as a day pass and took a tour and enjoyed the day and hung out on the lake. We booked a cabin the next summer and stayed for a weekend. Our time has evolved into longer stretches of visits and we enjoy all of the activities, recreation and amenities and I appreciate being able to move about as a woman without fear or worry. The recreation activities are a lot of fun. They plan dances with DJs and bands, the amenities are beautiful and I love the nature aspect of camping there too.

They are a clothing optional place not a nudist or naturalist location. Very anti guy, anti male. Blatant stare. Will kick you out for anonymous complaints. No recourse. Very greedy money hungry.
